Unit Overview
- Unit Name: Women’s Services – LDRP (Floor 2)
- L&D Beds: 6 (secure unit)
- OR Suites for C-Sections: 1 dedicated OR suite on the unit
- Triage Beds: N/A
- Postpartum Beds: Same 6 LDRP beds
- Birth Volume:
- ~160 births/year
- ~12–17 births/month
Staffing & Ratios
- AWHONN Guidelines Followed: Yes
- Staffing: 2 RNs per shift
- Charge Nurse:
- Core St. Luke’s RN preferred as Charge
- House Supervisor available for support
- Nurse Aides/Surgical Techs: None currently (actively hiring)

- AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced (can be obtained if not current)
Patient Population & Scope
- LDRP model: RN cares for laboring, postpartum, well mom, and well baby
- High-risk and critical OB patients
- Inductions
- Hypertensive crisis management
- Hemorrhage protocols
- No twins or triplets
- Patients stabilized and transferred as needed
- RNs serve as newborn nurse for C-sections (do not circulate)
- Care for couplets (mom & baby) during first few hours post-delivery
Experience & Required Skills
- Minimum: 2 years LDRP experience
- Strong L&D experience required
- Will consider candidates with strong recent L&D experience plus some LDRP or postpartum experience within recent years
- Must Have Skills:
- Newborn stabilization
- Ability to manage laboring patients autonomously and independently
- Comfortable working with OB not in-house (especially nights/weekends)
Drips & Medications
- RN Titration Required: Yes
- Common Drips:
- Magnesium sulfate
- Pitocin
- Insulin (if stabilizing prior to transfer)
Provider Coverage
- OB:
- Not in-house
- In clinic Monday–Friday
- On-call and called in for laboring patients
- Neonatal/Pediatrics:
- Pediatric physician on-site M–F (days) for newborns
- On-call nights and weekends
- Anesthesia:
- On-call after hours
- 30-minute response time
Monitoring & Equipment
- EFM System: Centricity
- RT Equipment: PRN nasal cannula and non-rebreather
- Telemetry/Monitor Techs: Not required
- RN Strip Reading: RN responsible
Scheduling
- Shifts: 7a–7p / 7p–7a
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling with core staff
- Weekends: Equitably distributed

Floating
- Floating limited to:
- Helping hands

- No picking up shifts in other departments
- Tasking may occur; emphasis on safe practice
Dress Code

- 1 facility orientation day (includes Epic)
- 2 x 12-hour unit-specific orientation shifts

Numerous bars and eateries fill Ketchum’s Main Street, including venues for enjoying traditional regional dishes like bison and elk. Annual Wagon Days in early September brings the largest non-motorized parade in the Pacific Northwest to Main Street. It comes complete with marching bands, Basque dancers, western cowboys, wheels and wagons, concluding with a Street Party on Town Square.
