Description

M-F  mid shift 11:30 a - 8:00 p 


This position Is responsible for:

  • Providing health care in the treatment and/or prevention of illnesses and injuries
  • Performing the juveniles' admission physical assessments
  • Conducting sick call
  • Administering medications
  • Implementing physician treatment orders
  • Providing medication administration, training UAPs for medication administration and medication counseling for the juveniles
  • Writing medical discharge summaries
  • Providing emergency medical services
  • Health care reports to other disciplines regarding juvenile health status, maintain data reports and providing health related staff training

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Experience leading a team; skill in delegation of UAP and subordinate health care tasks and making assignments.
  • Experience providing feedback and advice/counsel to nursing staff/UAP on care rendered to patients.
  • Experience independently implementing the nursing process (assess, plan, implement and evaluate) to meet patient needs.
  • Experience with basing judgements on facts and reasoning: to be open-minded, organized, systematic and inquisitive; to be reflective and self-monitoring; to be creative; and to demonstrate discernment of patients' complaints.
  • Experience working as a team player with multidisciplinary healthcare staff, facility and custody staff; to deliver services in an organized, timely and methodical manner, and to notify patient/client of how to access healthcare.
  • Experience effectively teaching nursing staff through orientation and on-the-job training; to precept subordinate staff on patient care and daily routines; and to provide support and assistance to peer/co-workers.
  • Experience using interview techniques that assist the patient/client in describing his/her symptoms and assist in discerning the situation, using an organizational approach; and to communicate information to patients, families, and staff in a concise and descriptive manner, verbally, in writing, or by demonstration

Management Preference:

  • Nursing experience in adolescent/pediatric/school or public health nursing.
