Job Details
- Position: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Acute Care
- Facility: Providence Saint Mary Medical Center
- Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care Hospital | Level III Trauma Center
- Address: 401 W Poplar St, Walla Walla, WA 99362
- Start Date: January 12, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day Shift – 5x8 hours (08:00 AM – 04:30 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: As per contract
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (rotation among 2–3 SLPs)
- Floating: Yes – between units/floors
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Caseload: Approx. 6–8 patients per day (8–10 treated/day)
- EMR: Epic
- Beds: 104
- Scrub Color: Any color
- Parking: Free
Job Responsibilities
- Perform SLP evaluations, assessments, reassessments, and plan-of-care development
- Conduct bedside swallow evaluations and manage dysphagia
- Modify diet orders using International Dysphagia Diet Standards
- Provide patient and family education
- Perform or assist with MBS and FEES studies (preferred)
- Document evaluations and treatments in Epic
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Respiratory, Radiology, and Social Services
- Float between assigned units as needed while maintaining quality patient care
Requirements
- Minimum Experience: 1 year Acute Care SLP experience
- License: Active Washington State SLP license (or compact if applicable)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Required)
- CCC-SLP (Preferred)
- FEES, MBSImP, VitalStim (Preferred)
- Skills:
- Dysphagia management
- Bedside swallow evaluations
- Adult neuro conditions (CVA, TBI, encephalopathy)
- Documentation & billing
- Other:
- Ability to float within the facility
- Must submit RTO at time of submission
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year in the last 3 years
