RN Clinical Nurse – Critical Care

The RN Clinical Nurse – Critical Care is an integral member of a collaborative, interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care in alignment with the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and Shared Governance framework. This role emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient advocacy, and professional nursing standards while supporting organizational goals and patient-centered outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Nursing Care:
  • Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using analytical and critical thinking and evidence-based practice.
  • Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics and cultural diversity.
  • Partner with patients and families in all aspects of care, including bedside reporting, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and goal-focused care planning.
• Teamwork and Collaboration:
  • Coordinate and document safe, high-quality care across the interdisciplinary team.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive clinical environment, promoting teamwork, fiscal responsibility, and staff recruitment and retention.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives, shared governance, and research utilization to enhance patient care outcomes.
• Professional Development & Mentorship:
  • Maintain professional competencies, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor to nurses, students, and interdisciplinary staff, fostering a qualified, future-ready workforce.
• Evidence-Based Practice & Research:
  • Promote evidence-based nursing practice and participate in nursing research and value analysis initiatives.
  • Utilize clinical evidence and expert resources to address practice questions and improve outcomes.
• Resource Management:
  • Plan and manage patient care across the continuum.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of protocols to reduce adverse events, readmissions, and avoidable days.
