Description
Duties:
Floating between departments and or local locations within 20 miles is required.
Job Summary:
-Ratios-1:1-1:3 for holding Peds or SAC status patients.
-Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
-Ensures safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care of patients.
-Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
-Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
-Initiates, utilizes, and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care.
-Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and documents according to policy.
-Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the episode of care.
-Assumes responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
-Completes patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards.
Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
-Pediatric Intensive Care Unit experience required.
-Two (2) years current experience required in a 12-plus bed Pediatric Intensive Care unit required.
-Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to fast paced environment.
-Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-Pediatric CVICU experience a plus.
-Epic EMR experience preferred.
Education:
Required Education:
One of the following is required:
-Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN).
-Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
Preferred Education:
-N/A
Required Certifications & Licensure:
-State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
-BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required.
-BLS and PALS must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or client.
