Description

Behavioral Health – LVN/LPN (Dayshift)
Location: Lubbock, TX
 

 

Assignment Overview:
This is a long-term opportunity supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a behavioral health/skilled nursing environment. Nurses are assigned to units based on skill set and care needs, with potential floating as staffing demands require.

 

Contract Length:
• Minimum 26 weeks (6 months)

 

Schedule & Hours:
• Shift: Day Shift (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
• Schedule: 5×8s
• Hours: 40 hours/week
• Working every other weekend (weekends are Saturday & Sunday)
• Must be available to work weekends
• No RTO preferred

 

Orientation & Training:
• Orientation start dates: 1/5/26 or 1/12/26
• First 5 weeks of orientation: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
• During training, hours may be limited to 32/week
• After orientation, nurses move into a 40-hour rotation
• If opting out of rotation, only 32 hours/week are guaranteed
• Nurses are oriented to multiple units prior to placement
• Able to start any day of the week with at least 5 days’ notice to complete pre-employment requirements

 

Floating Requirements:
• Agency nurses may be floated first based on staffing needs
• Floating between units may occur after orientation

 

Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as the licensed role being applied for
• At least 1 year of experience in a facility setting serving individuals with intellectual disabilities or medically fragile/high-acuity populations
• Strong clinical skills including:
– Gastrostomy tubes / enteral feedings
– Foley catheters
– Tracheostomy care
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required

 

Licensure & Certifications:
• Active Texas LVN/LPN license
• AHA BLS required

 

Additional Requirements:
• Must meet HHSC immunization requirements
• Must pass HHSC-required drug screening and fingerprinting
• Must complete all facility and HHSC-required training
• COVID-19 vaccination required

 

Important Notes:
• If a candidate has previously worked at this facility or another SSLC, prior employment must be reviewed before moving forward
• For LVN/LPN submissions, Attachment H is not required
