Description
Behavioral Health – LVN/LPN (Weekend Shift)
Location: Lubbock, TX
Assignment Overview:
This role supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a behavioral health/skilled nursing setting. Nurses are assigned to units based on care needs and skill set, with the possibility of floating as staffing demands require.
Contract Length:
• Minimum 26 weeks (6 months)
Schedule & Hours:
• Shift Type: Weekends + 1 weekday shift
• Weekend Schedule:
– Saturday & Sunday: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM (16-hour shifts)
• Additional Shift:
– One 8-hour shift during the week
– Available shifts:
• Days: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Mids: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Total Schedule: 2 × 16s + 1 × 8 (40 hours/week)
• Must work weekends
• RTO: None preferred
Orientation & Training:
• Orientation start dates: 1/5 or 1/12
• First 5 weeks of orientation: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
• During training, hours may be limited to 32/week
• After orientation, nurses transition to a 40-hour rotation
• If opting out of rotation, only 32 hours/week are guaranteed
• Nurses are oriented to multiple units prior to placement
• Able to start any day of the week with at least 5 days’ notice to complete pre-employment requirements
Floating Requirements:
• Agency nurses may be floated first based on staffing needs
• Floating between units may occur after orientation
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of experience as the licensed role being applied for
• At least 1 year of experience in a facility setting serving individuals with intellectual disabilities or medically fragile/high-acuity populations
• Strong clinical skills required, including:
– Gastrostomy tubes / enteral feedings
– Foley catheters
– Tracheostomy care
• Clear written and verbal communication skills required to interact with peers, DSPs, providers, and individuals served
Licensure & Certifications:
• Active Texas LVN/LPN license
• AHA BLS required
Additional Requirements:
• Must meet HHSC immunization requirements
• Must pass HHSC-required drug screening and fingerprinting
• Must complete all facility and HHSC-required training
• COVID-19 vaccination required
Important Notes:
• If a candidate has previously worked at this facility or another SSLC, prior employment must be reviewed before proceeding
• For LVN/LPN submissions, Attachment H is not required
