Description

Travel RN – Neuro ICU - 3137590

📍 Location: University Hospital, Madison, WI
🕒 Shift: Evening/Night | 8 or 12 hrs
• 1900–0730 or 2300–0730
• Weekend rotation & some holidays required

Unit Details

  • 18-bed Neuro Intensive Care Unit
  • Part of a Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • Adult neuro patients including:
    • CVA / Acute Stroke
    • Subarachnoid hemorrhage
    • Traumatic Brain Injury
    • Post-craniotomy & neurosurgery
    • Spinal cord injury
  • Supportive leadership & interdisciplinary collaboration

Experience Requirements (HARD STOP)

  • Craniotomy & EVD experience required
  • ICP or Ventricular monitoring experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience (within last 3 years)
  • Must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment
  • Epic experience required (preferred within last 12 months)

Certifications

  • BLS & ACLS (AHA ONLY)
  • NIHSS (preferred)

Key Skills

Lines & Access

  • IV therapy, PICC, central lines, ports
  • Arterial lines
  • Blood product administration

Respiratory

  • Ventilator management
  • BiPAP / CPAP
  • HFNC
  • ABG interpretation
  • Chest tube assistance

Medications

  • Titrate cardiac & vasoactive drips
  • Continuous IV sedation & paralytics
  • Emergency meds
  • Procedural sedation monitoring

Neurological

  • EVD management
  • ICP monitoring
  • Hypothermia / Arctic Sun (preferred)
  • Lumbar drains
  • Post-crani & neuro surgery care

Cardiac/Telemetry

  • Basic arrhythmia interpretation
  • Must pass telemetry test prior to start

Licensure

  • WI RN license or Compact license
  • Permanent address must be 50+ miles from facility

Floating

  • Travelers float first
  • May float to other ICUs or locations as needed
