.** *NO FIRST TIME TRAVELERS* - Unit: PICU - # beds: 8--average census 2 - Certs: BLS, PALS - Ratios: 1 to 2 - EMR: Cerner - Charge Nurse: Rarely - Nurse Aides: None - Weekend Requirement: Every other - Holidays: 2 out of 3 - Scrub Color: Navy Blue - Tele: Spacelab tele monitors, nurses must read own strips - Vents: Yes - Peds Hospitalist Intensivist in house: Yes, in house 24/7 - IV Team: None - RT 24/7: Yes; Vents, Cpap, Ramcan, Bipap, HFNC - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes - Call: If census low and scheduled, may be asked to be on standby - Shifts: 7a ,7p - Floating: General peds & burn unit for non-burn care of pediatric patients (the burn staff handle the burn care), NICU (voluntary). Travelers are first to float. - Floor specific orientation: 2 shifts PICU, 1 shift peds, 1 shift burn (for peds) - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Respiratory failure, dehydration, seizures, suicide attempts, ODs, poisoning, ventilators,diabetic ketoacidosis Common titratable and/or set drips: insulin, sedative agents, heparin, rarely: vasopressin, norpinephrine, epinephrine, a lot of electrolyte replacements - Additional Notes: MINIMUM 2 years PICU experience; use medfusion pumps
