RN ICU – Adult Intensive Care Unit

Unit: Adult ICU (High Acuity, 16–24 beds)

Shift: Nights | 19:00 – 07:30
Schedule: 3 × 12-hour night shifts/week
Weekends: No more than every other weekend (may be every 3rd, staffing dependent)
Holidays: Rotating
Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Patient Ratios

• Typical: 1:2
• High acuity: 1:1
• Rare: 1:3 (downgrade patients only)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill ICU patients
• Continuous monitoring using ventilators, cardiac monitors, and advanced ICU equipment
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments per physician orders
• Assist with and perform invasive procedures (intubation support, central lines, arterial blood draws)
• Manage ventilator settings and life-support equipment
• Rapidly recognize and respond to patient condition changes and emergencies
• Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation
• Collaborate with physicians, RTs, and multidisciplinary teams
• Provide patient and family education and emotional support
• Strict adherence to infection control protocols
• Participate in ongoing education and skills training
• Precepting may be required

Requirements

• Active RN Compact License
• BLS & ACLS certifications
• CRRT experience required
• ICU experience with high-acuity patients
• Willingness to precept
