Job Overview

This role is for an experienced OB / L&D / Postpartum RN who can manage maternal and neonatal care across labor & delivery, C-sections, recovery, and postpartum units. The nurse will provide direct patient care, support physicians during deliveries and surgeries, and ensure safe care for both mother and newborn.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Nursing Duties

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care based on an individualized plan of care
  • Administer medications, collect specimens, and perform clinical treatments
  • Assess, implement, and evaluate patient care continuously
  • Monitor and document patient conditions and communicate changes to physicians, care teams, patients, and families
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and elimination
  • Advocate for patients’ physical and emotional well-being

OB / L&D / C-Section Responsibilities

  • Circulate during C-Sections and assist physicians during deliveries
  • Follow hospital policies for surgical recovery and post-operative care
  • Attend the neonatal station during C-sections
  • Perform full newborn assessments immediately after delivery
  • Provide antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, triage, and OB/GYN post-op care (including post-hysterectomy patients)

Education & Collaboration

  • Educate patients and families based on age, culture, and medical condition
  • Identify learning needs and provide appropriate instruction
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for patient transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support
  • Communicate critical information clearly to physicians and families

Certifications & Training

  • Maintain fetal monitoring certification every two years
  • Attend STABLE certification if offered
  • Must be NRP certified

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in:
    • Level 1 Nursery
    • Postpartum
    • OB/GYN
    • Labor & Delivery / LDRP
  • Strong skills in C-section circulation and newborn assessment
  • Ability to float to other units as helping hands or sitter only (based on census)

Mandatory Certifications & Licensure

  • ACLS, BLS, NRP, STABLE, AWHONN
    • Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified
    • All certifications must be attached at submission
  • WY RN license or RN Compact License (must be attached to resume)
