Schedule Notes:

12 weeks/40 hr/wk; 8 hour shifts Day Shift – 0630-1500 with 2 weekday calls and every 3 th-4th weekend call. MUST HAVE CARDIAC AND VASCULAR EXPERIENCE

Education & Certification Requirements

Required:

• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Current Surgical Technologist certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
• Must meet one of the eligibility criteria listed below (state requirement)

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical operating room experience

  State Eligibility Requirements for Surgical Technologists

  A person may not practice surgical technology in a health care facility unless one of the following applies:

  1. Has successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist education program and holds and maintains NBSTSA certification
     • Graduates may practice for up to three (3) months after program completion while obtaining certification.
  2. Has completed an approved surgical technology training program through the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard) or the U.S. Public Health Service.
  3. Was employed as a surgical technologist in this state prior to January 1, 2008, and can provide evidence of such employment.
  4. Is in the service of the federal government, performing duties related to that service.
