Description

Specialty: Interventional Radiology (IR) RN

Department: Interventional Radiology (with IR-specific cases in Cath Lab when needed)

Shift: 12-hour shifts

Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Nights: 7:00 PM start times
Lunch: 1 hour
Breaks: 2 × 15 minutes

Call Requirements: No call (weekdays, weekends, holidays)

Staffing:

1 IR suite/lab
Cath Lab used for IR vascular procedures only
7 RNs total
IR Tech + CST paired with Interventionalist

Case Volume:

IR procedures: 5–8 per day
CT prep / IV starts: ~50 patients per day

Key Procedures:

CT/US-guided biopsies (breast, thyroid, general)
Complex vascular (embolization, PE/DVT thrombectomies – INARI/EKOS)
Drains (abscess, pleural effusion, paracentesis)
Pain management injections (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, joints)
Lines: PICCs, ports, permcaths, tunneled catheters

Responsibilities:

Pre, intra, post-procedure care
Moderate sedation monitoring
High-volume IV starts
CT/MRI prep (peds & adults)
Pacemaker patient monitoring
Communication with providers
Charting via Radiology Flowsheet

EMR: Allscripts

Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS (peds experience not required)

Experience:

1 year IR experience required
Strong IV skills required
Open to first-time travelers
Critical care experience preferred

Scrubs: Royal Blue (Cath Lab: hospital scrubs allowed)

Orientation: Minimum 3 shifts; manager evaluates additional needs
