Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract assignment in a small, high-acuity adult Intensive Care Unit. This role requires strong critical care skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to adapt to changing patient acuity while delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

Unit Overview

• 9-bed ICU
• Standard nurse-to-patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• 1:1 staffing when patient condition requires
• Occasional medical-surgical overflow with ratios up to 3–4 patients per nurse
• Minimum of three nurses per shift
• Primarily adult ICU; stable pediatric patients may be admitted
  • Unstable pediatric patients are transferred to a higher level of care

Schedule & Contract Details

• 12-hour day or night shifts
• Schedule: 72 hours every two weeks
• Holiday coverage required
• May be assigned charge nurse duties when needed
• May float to other departments for support (no patient assignment while floating)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU patients
• Perform continuous assessment, monitoring, and documentation
• Administer medications and manage life-support equipment
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
• Respond effectively to emergency and rapidly changing clinical situations
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards

Licensure & Experience Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license (must be current at time of submission)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU or critical care experience

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) — required
