Description
Experience Requirements: Must have 1yr of exp in the ER and 1yr exp in Psych(Hospital preferred) |
Must have experience with assessments to determine disposition for psych patients as well as experience working with violent patients |
PLS nurses have three primary responsibilities:
1) Direct Patient Care: Provide primary nursing care to two high-risk psychiatric patients in the ED, including medication administration, restraint use, de-escalation, and coordinating inpatient or state hospital placement.
2) Psychiatric Evaluation: Assess all psych patients entering the ER, determine appropriate disposition (e.g., inpatient, discharge, involuntary hold), and coordinate necessary steps like placement, safety planning, and transport.
3) Crisis Response: Respond to Behavioral Response Team (BRT) calls across the hospital to manage escalated patients through de-escalation, setting limits, restraint, and supporting bedside staff alongside police and nurse managers.
License/ Certification Requirements: KS or Compact RN | BLS
