Job Summary:
Shifts: Four 10-hr shifts. Shifts may fluctuate to fulfill department staffing needs. Weekends (Fri-Sun; 0630-1900)/On call, and holidays may be required (per staff rotation).
Essential Duties:
-Minimal congenital pediatrics may be required.
-Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
-Ensures safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care of patients.
-Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
-Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
-Initiates, utilizes, and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care.
-Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and documents according to policy.
-Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the episode of care.
-Assumes responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and other non-licensed assistive personnel.
-Completes patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards.
Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
-Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
-Minimum two (2) years current experience required in Cardiothoracic surgery.
-Must be able to scrub.
-Must be a team player, flexible and accustomed to fast paced environment.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-EMR: EPIC experience preferred but not required; will train on-site.
Education:
Required Education:
One of the following is required:
-Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN).
-Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
Required Certifications & Licensure:
-State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
-BLS required.
-BLS (and ACLS, and PALS if obtained) must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross.
