Job Description
General Description:
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to adult patients in an oncology infusion clinic setting, managing care for patients with conditions ranging from simple to complex.
Essential Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IV medications, subcutaneous injections, oral medications, and blood products as ordered.
- Monitor patients for treatment reactions and intervene appropriately.
- Provide consultation and education regarding chemotherapy, side effects, and treatment plans.
- Assist physicians during procedures, including conscious sedation and minor diagnostic or therapeutic interventions.
- Document patient responses, treatments, and any changes in physician orders.
- Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care plans, clinic procedures, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
- Perform patient education related to oncology treatments and medications.
- Coordinate patient follow-up, referrals, and post-visit phone triage.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff.
- Maintain safe, compassionate, and competent patient care.
Skills & Experience
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
- Knowledge of professional nursing principles and practices
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Basic computer proficiency
Preferred:
- Oncology infusion experience
Education
- Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Certifications & Licensure
Required:
- Active RN license (Oklahoma or Compact/Multi-State)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Administration
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate
