Location: 109 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29401
Contract Type: Federal Contract – Firm Fixed Price (FFP)
Duration: 6 Months

Job Overview

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking Specialized Registered Nurses to support inpatient, outpatient, acute, critical care, and specialty units at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC. Nurses will augment VA clinical staff and provide direct patient care across multiple service lines, including COVID-19 units.

Refusal to care for COVID-19 positive patients or Patients Under Investigation (PUI) may result in removal from the assignment or contract.

Units / Specialties May Include

  • Chemotherapy Infusion Clinic

     

  • Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
  • Day: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Night: 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Weekends & Federal Holidays: Required (alternating preferred)
  • Shifts per Month: Approximately 13–15 per FTE
  • Credentialing / Onboarding: 6–8 weeks

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in assigned specialty unit
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care
  • Administer medications and treatments per VA protocols
  • Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in VA systems
  • Follow VA, Joint Commission, and federal healthcare standards
  • Comply with infection control, safety, and privacy policies

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted RN license (any U.S. state or territory)
  • Graduate of an ACEN / CCNE / ANCC-accredited nursing program
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience (within the last 3 years) in the assigned specialty
  • Must have worked in the specialty within the last 6 months

Specialty-Specific Experience Requirements

  • Chemo Infusion RN:

    • 2+ years chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy infusion experience
    • Oncology certification preferred (ONCC or ONS Chemo/Biotherapy course)

     

 

Certifications Required BLS (AHA) – Required ACLS – Required for critical care roles CPR competency required for all staff
