A facility in Vestal, NY  is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cardiac Ultrasonographer to join our team at the Vestal Cardiology office. This is a 13-week contract position focused on providing high-quality diagnostic imaging in a busy outpatient clinical setting.

Position Overview

• Shift: Day Shift (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
• Hours: 40 hours per week (8-hour days with a 1-hour lunch)

Role Summary

The Cardiac Ultrasonographer ensures that cardiology services are delivered in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner. You will be responsible for evaluating and treating both inpatients and outpatients, with a primary focus on adult outpatient echo scans. You will utilize Philips Epiq ultrasound machines to conduct approximately 8 scans per day (4 in the morning, 4 in the afternoon).

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnostic Imaging: Perform comprehensive cardiac ultrasound exams, including 2D, M-mode, Doppler color, TEE, and stress echocardiograms.
• Preliminary Reporting: Interpret exams for preliminary reports; identify and immediately communicate critically abnormal findings to the attending physician.
• Equipment Maintenance: Clean and disinfect TEE probes according to strict infection control standards.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and appropriate medical records and reports for all procedures.
• Emergency Response: Respond to calls for "stat/emergency echos" during unscheduled hours as needed.
• Patient Care: Adhere to UHS Service Delivery Standards to provide exceptional patient experiences.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree from an accredited school for Cardiac Ultrasonography.

Certifications & Licensure

• Required: RDMS (from ARDMS) or RCS (from CCI).
• Required: BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Preferred: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) via ARDMS.

Experience & Skills

• Experience: Adult outpatient clinic experience is highly preferred.
• Technical: Proficiency with Philips Epiq ultrasound machines.
• Core Competencies: Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
