Required Certifications

ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), BLS Certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS (AHA), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Verification

Unit Notes
Submission Requirements:
Can only submit to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system
Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility
Previous perm candidates must be gone for 2 years
Previous travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years
Individual unit requirements listed in pulse apply.
Travel teams must be submitted together in 1 email
We are only permitted to submit 2 candidates per opening, if the position is at max, we will hold on to the submission if a spot opens up
ANY License HITS NEED TO BE DISCLOSED AT TIME OF SUBMISSION.

 

COVID VACCINE REQUIRED: Fully vaccinated means either 2 shots of Moderna or Pfizer or 1 shot of J&J; If a traveler wants to decline based on a Medical or Religious reason, please have them fill out the appropriate Exemption Form and email it to the address on the form. These should be done ASAP as they have to go through a council to be approved or denied

Unit RT(Cost Code ) Berkeley & Jefferson
# treatments per day Tx load @ Jefferson fluctuates could have census 25 full & be down to 12 patients.
Certs - RRT and CRT? "BLS, ACLS, PALS. NRP, RRT required but will accept CRT as long as they held their license prior to July 1st 2022, NRP added 12/15/2025 per Leslie Lee
Experience/Must haves: NICU, Peds and Adults experience.

EMR EPIC
Lead RT Lead Therapist each shift (jefferson has supv M-F during the day. Berkeley assistant Director M-F - handle daily operations & approve the schedule. )
Weekend Requirement every other weekend : nights Fri/Sat/Sun days Sat/Sun
Holidays every other holiday
Call 7pm Fri - 7pm Sun night - everyone in the dept pick up Fri night, sat day, sat night, sun day ( sign up in advance)
Scrub Color Gray
Tele
Vents (What brand?) Servo U, Hamilton G5, Transport Vent Hamilton T1, Bipap non-invasive ventilation phillips respironics V60, High flow heated combo of AirVo & MaxTech system.
Are RTs Required Intubate Independently? must be able to intubate independently for peds & adults
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house
Pharmacy 24/7
Shifts "Fill out spreadsheet, managers balance it out & approve. Try to get out 4 weeks in advance.
Jefferson 2-3 on days & 2 is baseline on nights
Berkeley 6 on days + PFT person & 4 RT on nights for baseline"
Floating Previous NICU exp is preferred (berkeley is Level II NICU) Jefferson would tx to Berkeley.
Floor specific orientation "try to give 3 12 hour shifts
Jefferson - the person covering ICU also covers ER. The other RT covers the rest of MedSurg.
Berkeley each perosn has their own assignment: ER, ICU, 2nd floor, per day "
Types of patients (adults, peds, and neonates?) peds, adults, neonates.
Duties (ie: Do RTs draw ABGs?) "Duties: assess patients/clients, plan appropriate treatements based upon the physicians orders & evalutations, establish goals, methods of treatments, & the patient's potential. Set-up equipment, administer treatments as ordered: O2, humidity therapy, airway mgmt, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, postural drainage procedures, chest physiotherapy, Bipap, Cpap, nebulizers, inhalers, & ABG's.
Jefferson RT does NON ER EKGs 24/7 (outpt or inpt) but not in the ER.
Berkeley RT they do EKGs in off hours from 5pm - including 7am the following morning & all weekend long but not in the ER. "
Additional Notes do not have to do PFTs. Only the clinincal RT side of things.
Additional Questions How they feel about their integrity, teamwork, excellence quality stewardship? Must have the patients best interest in minds, Very much like a family. Have each other's backs.
