Job Overview
A Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse is needed for an inpatient unit caring for oncology patients with a wide range of post-surgical and medical needs. This role requires strong stepdown and medical-surgical experience, along with prior exposure to oncology and chemotherapy patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to surgical oncology patients
- Manage stepdown and med-surg level patients
- Administer medications, IV infusions, and blood products
- Monitor and document patient responses to treatments and interventions
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor procedures
- Communicate care plans with patients and families throughout hospitalization and discharge
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams
- Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma or Compact eNLC)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience
- Experience in Surgical Oncology and chemotherapy patient care required
- Stepdown and Med-Surg experience required
- BLS and ACLS (AHA) required
- ONS/ONCC certification required (fundamentals may be considered)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
