Unit Notes
We are an 18-bed blended unit. Average Daily census is 14, with a higher average census in the winter months. Depending on the severity of the winter respiratory virus season, we may have between 8-10 pediatric patients, and the rest are adult female patients. If there is a decreased need for pediatric patient beds, then our beds are filled with adult female med/surg patients. The goal for nurse-to-patient ratios is 1:5 with acuity, staffing availability, and patient age (peds vs adult) being taken into account. Core staffing is 3 RNs and 2 CNAs per shift. We are a decentralized unit and do not utilize Centralized Staffing to fill vacancies. A med/surg RN is what is needed to fill the staffing need, pediatric experience is a bonus but not required. ACLS is not required but PALS is required. Currently our charting system is Allscripts, with a switch to EPIC in March, and our medication system is Acudose.”

Quincy, IL
About
Quincy is steeped in a rich history, revealed in its more than 3,600 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The magnificent East End downtown is where movers and shakers lived during the 19th century, while the architecture in the South Side German Historic District sports an evident German influence. Perched atop bluffs along the Mississippi River in western Illinois, only the water separated it from the former slave state of Missouri on the other side. In the 1830s, Quincy was an essential link in the Underground Railroad and a pivotal city on the issue of slavery. Learn more at the History Museum on the Square, set within a Romanesque-Revival-style building that once served as the Quincy Public Library. At the riverfront Clat Adams Bicentennial Park, locals and visitors enjoy a series of outdoor concerts and 4th of July fireworks each summer.
