Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Work in a combined Interventional Radiology (IR) / Cardiology / Vascular / Electrophysiology (EP) lab.
  • Approximately 80% IR procedures, 10% other procedure types.
  • Assist providers during diagnostic and interventional radiology and cardiology procedures.
  • Responsibilities include scrubbing and circulating during IR/Cath Lab and cardiology procedures.
  • Medication administration is performed by RN only.
  • No float requirement.
  • Scrubs are provided.

Schedule & Call Requirements

  • 40 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts (07:30 - 16:00).
  • Call schedule:
    • Weekday call: Twice a week for 2 weeks per month, 16:00-07:30.
    • Weekend call: One weekend per month (Friday 16:00 to Monday 07:30).
    • No call the week following a weekend call.
  • Weekend work: Every third weekend.
  • Call team consists of three staff members, including one RN.
  • Callback time: 30 minutes for STEMIs; IR callback time varies by procedure.

Patient Population

  • Adults and Geriatrics
  • Common diagnoses include pacemakers (PPM) and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Radiology/Cardiology specialty.
  • Must have Interventional Radiology (IR) experience (90% IR procedures).
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
  • Skills: Scrub, circulate, telemetry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills: EKG lead placement.
  • Additional certifications: ARRT Advanced Certification, RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist), RCIS with medical experience.

Equipment Used

  • GE MAC Lab, Philips iFR/IVUS, Canon and GE Labs
  • Angio Jet, Pneumbra, EKOS, Inari, CSI Atherectomy System
  • Bovi System for Implanta Plasma Blade Cutter
  • Radiofrequency Ablation Unit, Venous Closure Unit
  • Sono Site, S2000 Ultrasound Unit
  • IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), Impella

Orientation & Training

  • Unit orientation: 40-80 hours.
  • Techs start directly on the unit on Mondays until Dimensions training is completed.
  • No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; no holiday RTO allowed.

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required.
  • Candidates must be available for an interview prior to offer.
  • Strict attendance and call-off policies; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements (Summary)

  • Background checks within 6 months.
  • Required certifications and education verifications.
  • Health documents including TB test, immunizations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella), drug testing within 6 months.
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
  • Radiation badge required for this role.
  • Facility-specific trainings and acknowledgments (e.g., confidentiality agreement, medication safety, hospital policies).
  • Photo for badge required prior to start.
