Position Overview
The Psych/Detox Registered Nurse is a vital member of the behavioral health care team, providing direct and indirect nursing care to patients in Adult Behavioral Health and Detox units. The RN delivers care using the nursing process, conducts comprehensive assessments, develops and updates care plans, facilitates patient education, and leads therapeutic groups.
This role requires floating between Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health and Detox units as needed.
Patient Population
- Ages 15 and older
- Common diagnoses include substance dependence (alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and other drugs)
- Co-occurring psychiatric conditions such as depression, psychosis, and bipolar disorder
Key Responsibilities
- Perform admission interviews and comprehensive physical assessments
- Develop, implement, and revise individualized patient care plans
- Administer medications and monitor withdrawal symptoms
- Accurately document patient status, care provided, and outcomes
- Provide patient education and facilitate group therapy sessions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Demonstrate competency in restraint and seclusion procedures, including monitoring and patient safety
Requirements
- Active RN license (must be in good standing)
- Minimum 3 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience
- BLS certification required
- CPI certification required
- Must be trained and competent in restraint and seclusion procedures
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the hospital
- Previous employees and candidates with licensure or background hits will not be considered
Additional Information
- Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid
- Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract
- Holiday coverage required
