Description
Job Summary (List Format):
- Cardiac Nursing Experience Required: Must have experience caring for post-operative CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) and valve surgery patients.
- Stepdown/Progressive Care Experience: Application must show experience in SD (Stepdown) or PCU (Progressive Care Unit) with at least a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio; ICU experience does not qualify.
- CABG Experience: Must have direct experience with CABG patients.
- EPIC EMR Experience: Required proficiency in EPIC charting.
- Patient Ratios: Expected to manage 1:4-6 patient ratio.
- Contract Details: 48-hour contracts;
- Certifications & Skills Required:
- Successful completion of an online EKG telemetry competency assessment before assignment start.
- BLS, ACLS, IV start, NIHSS, and cardiac drip titration; must be able to interpret cardiac strips.
- N95 fit testing prior to working in HRRU unit (or PAPR if needed).
- Preferred Experience: At least 1.5 years of Level 1 or Level 2 hospital experience; previous travel nursing experience preferred.
- Floating Requirements:
- Must float as needed per facility discretion, including to high-risk respiratory/COVID units.
- May be required to float between main and satellite campuses within 15 miles.
- Scheduling Requirements: Must be available for every other weekend and holiday shifts.
- Cancellation Policy: Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract (2 per 8-week contract) due to low census; can terminate contract with 2 weeks’ notice.
- No Employee Incentives: Travelers are not eligible for permanent staff incentives.
- Unit Details: 36-bed unit specializing in pre- and post-op open heart (CABG, valve, mitral clip, TAVR), thoracotomy, lung cases (pneumothorax, hemothorax, chest tube, zephyr valve), and advanced cardiac patients on continuous telemetry.
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs required.
- Time-off Requests: Must be submitted with initial application; no additional RTO allowed post-offer.
- Submission Requirements: Application, current Nursys report; certifications listed on application suffice (no need to submit separately).
