Job Title: OB Registered Nurse – Variable Shift (L&D / Postpartum / Nursery)
Job Type: Contract
Position Urgency: Normal
Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: Variable shifts (Days/Nights), 12-hour shifts
Hours: 36 hours per week following orientation
On-Call: One 12-hour call shift required at least once per month
Holiday Coverage: Required
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced OB Registered Nurse to support Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery units. This role involves providing comprehensive maternal and newborn care from labor through postpartum recovery in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care for laboring patients, assist with deliveries, and support immediate newborn care
- Deliver post-delivery and postpartum care for mothers
- Monitor fetal and maternal status using electronic fetal monitoring systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes
- Accurately document patient care using electronic medical record systems
Unit & Equipment Details
- Labor & Delivery: 8 labor rooms
- Postpartum: 18 beds
- EMR system: EPIC
- Fetal monitoring system: GE / Centricity
Schedule Requirements
- Variable shifts (days and nights)
- 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week after orientation)
- One scheduled 12-hour on-call shift per month
- No guarantee of shift preference or hours
Required Qualifications
- Active Hawaii RN license (must be obtained by start of assignment)
- Minimum of 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience
- Strong clinical skills in L&D, postpartum, and newborn care
- Ability to work variable shifts and on-call coverage
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Preferred Certifications:
- STABLE
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring
Additional Requirements
- Must arrive prior to assignment start to complete employee health clearance
- Must be flexible and adaptable to unit needs
- Floating between OB-related units may be required
