Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CPCU) contract assignment. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients requiring telemetry and step-down ICU-level monitoring in an acute care hospital setting.
Unit Details
- 15-bed unit
- 3 Step-Down ICU beds
- 12 Telemetry beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:4 for Progressive Care
- 1:3 for Step-Down ICU
Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care to progressive care and telemetry patients
- Continuous cardiac and telemetry monitoring
- Accurate telemetry strip interpretation
- Fingerstick blood glucose monitoring
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective patient care
Equipment & Systems Used
- EPIC electronic medical record (EMR)
- Pyxis medication dispensing system
- BiPAP
- Continuous cardiac monitoring equipment
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of recent hospital acute care experience (within the last year)
- Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and patient assessment skills
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Hawaii RN license required by assignment start date
- Candidates without an active HI license must apply upon offer acceptance
- BLS/BCLS required
- ACLS preferred
- PALS preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
Floating Requirements
- Must be willing to float to all acute care units as needed, including:
- Medical
- Surgical/Pediatrics
- ICU
- Emergency Department
Dress Code
- Scrubs
Additional Requirements
- Must arrive the Thursday prior to assignment start to complete employee health requirements on Friday
