Multiple opportunities for LBS-1 Special Education Teacher with PediaStaff: Special Education Teacher in Shorewood, IL area.

We're currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher ($45-$55/hr) to support students in the SHOREWOOD, IL area.

Role Overview:
Our client has openings in multiple grade levels including:
*1st-4th grade
K-3rd grade
*9th-12th grade

This is a school that accepts referrals from public school districts in the Chicagoland area. Potential students are k-12 with a primary diagnosis of autism. Other diagnoses can include intellectual delay, various health impairments and developmental delays.  Some children are severely autistic, some are non-verbal, there are also a few with externalizing behaviors. Therapists and paraprofessionals are on-site and the team works together to meet the needs of the students. As a Special Education Teacher, you will support students with diverse learning needs by creating inclusive and personalized educational plans that help them thrive both academically and emotionally. Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree in Special Education with an LBS1 Certification

Job Details:   

  • Schedule:  full time
  • Dates:  ASAP, this is a year round program with normal school breaks and 6 week program in summer
  • Hours:     8:00 am-3:30 pm
  • Setting:  therapeutic school
  • Caseload: multiple classrooms per grade level, class side based on needs of students
  • In-person only 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Accommodate, modify and adapt lessons and curriculum as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP Goals
  • Support in the facilitation of IEP meetings as well as development of the IEP
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental levels and interests of their students
  • Set and communicate clear expectations for classroom behavior and school environment by applying positive reinforcement and/or behavior modification techniques as needed. Assist in the development and implementation of student behavior intervention plans
