Shift Information:

8 hr shifts; 0615-1445 Mon-Fri; no weekends, holidays or call

Key Responsibilities: Patient Assessment and Care Assess and respond to the individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients through observation and interaction. Act as a patient advocate to ensure patient-centered care. Utilize professional nursing skills and judgment to implement care plans and address identified problems. Communicate patient assessments to relevant staff to coordinate care effectively. Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery, and self-care. Clinical Skills and Procedures Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures such as lab work, radiology, and EKG. Administer IV therapy and other nursing interventions as appropriate. Transcribe and implement physicians’ orders accurately and promptly. Admit patients to the surgical center efficiently, ensuring all documentation and safety checks are completed. Utilize clinical judgment in PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) to maintain airway, monitor vital signs, manage pain, and consult with surgeons or anesthesiologists as needed. Evaluate patient readiness for discharge to Phase 2 care. Assist in anesthesia-related procedures, including nerve blocks and management of anesthesia supplies. Familiarity with emergency equipment and protocols (crash cart, MH cart, emergency medications). Documentation Accurately document patient care in clinical records in a timely manner. Verify that all required patient records, paperwork, and preoperative safety measures (site marking, consents, anesthesiologist consultation) are complete. Operational Support Decrement supplies according to policy, using resources efficiently without compromising patient care. Assist with housekeeping duties when needed (cleaning, bed-making). Support flow and staffing as a float nurse, assisting across units and covering breaks. Work in specialized areas as assigned, such as pain management and eye laser procedure rooms. Professional Development and Collaboration Participate in committee meetings, provide suggestions for improvement, and seek guidance when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) Strong assessment and critical thinking skills Knowledge of surgical procedures, PACU care, and anesthesia support Proficiency in IV therapy, diagnostic testing, and patient education Ability to document accurately in electronic medical records Effective communication and teamwork skills
