Job Summary: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, every weekend required
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Facility: Children's hospital setting (primarily L&D, NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics units)
- Floating: May float between PICU, NICU, Pediatrics, and IU Health North Hospital
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years PICU experience
- Must have Children's Hospital experience within the last 3 years (higher priority than adult facility experience)
- Must have Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience as primary assignment will be in L&D
- Open to travelers with level 1 adult facility experience but Children's Hospital experience is required within last 3 years
Licensure & Certifications
- Indiana State License required (temporary license accepted if applied for permanent)
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- BLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- NBRC RRT
- NRP (required if placed in L&D; traveler can obtain after offer)
- Preferred Certification: PALS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Prior Travel Experience
- First Time Travelers Accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
Unit Information
- Assignments primarily in L&D, NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics units
- Floating between these units and possibly IU Health North Hospital
Required Documents & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year residence/work history
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no exemptions accepted
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
- Skills checklist within 12 months and annually updated
- Completion of mandatory RRT modules (for RRT candidates) prior to orientation
Additional Notes
- Indiana RN’s will not be allowed to work at IU Health facilities effective 11/30/24, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers
- Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS specialties (exempt from the above restriction)
This position is ideal for respiratory therapists with pediatric and critical care experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced children's hospital environment and are flexible with floating between related units. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
