Job Description: Medical–Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN) – Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical–Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN) for a contract assignment in an acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, flexible with scheduling, and comfortable working rotating shifts while providing high-quality patient care to adult medical-surgical populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients
• Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and documentation
• Administer medications and treatments per provider orders
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
• Maintain patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality
• Adapt to rotating shifts, weekends, and varying patient acuity

Required Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required prior to contract start
• Minimum 5 years of recent Medical–Surgical nursing experience
• Strong clinical judgment and time-management skills
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts and consecutive weekends

Certifications

• BLS/BCLS required
• ACLS required
• Additional certifications may be required or preferred per facility policy, including but not limited to:
  • PALS
  • NRP
  • NIHSS
  • CPI
  • ENPC
  • TNCC
  • STABLE
  • AWHONN / EFM
  • Other specialty certifications as applicable

Equipment & Systems

• Cerner electronic medical record (EMR)

Additional Information

• Holiday pay applies only if the shift begins on the holiday
• Bilingual skills not required
