Position Summary

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Perform plan of care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
• Document patient care provided.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support.
• Evaluate learning needs and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse licensed by the Virginia Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Acute Care experience required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Flexibility to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks
