Description

Assignment Details

Contract: 13 weeks
Schedule: 12-hour shifts | 36 GWW | Weekends + rotating holidays
Unit: Pediatric Emergency Department (Peds ED List A / Mapping)
Beds/Rooms/Bays: 31–40
Ratios: 1:4
Ancillary Support: Techs, LPN/LVN
Parking: Yes (parking pass required)
Dress Code: Scrubs

Required Certifications & License

BLS (Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer) – Required
PALS – Required
TNCC – Required
ACLS – Required
CPI / CERT (Crisis Prevention / CPI Blue Card) – Required
License: Virginia RN license or Compact – Required
Flu Vaccine: Required – NO exemptions

Experience Requirements

Pediatric ER experience: 2+ years (required)
Triage experience: Required

Clinical Scope / Skills (Preferred & Expected)

You’ll manage pediatric emergency presentations and high-acuity stabilization including:

Common Dx/Treatment: Asthma, DKA, neonate w/ fever, sickle cell disease
Special Procedures: Moderate sedation / procedure sedation
Airway/Respiratory: Breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, vents (home vents + high-frequency vents), chest tube setup/care, RSI meds
Critical Interventions: Blood products, rapid transfusions, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, CVP, 12-lead EKG interpretation
Line/Device Management: Drains, TLD central lines, ports/vascular devices, PICC/central lines, PCA pumps, feeding tubes
Critical Care Exposure: Burns, cardiac, neuro, PICU-level, surgical, transplant, trauma
Med-Surg Exposure: General, hem/onc, ortho
