Job Overview

 

Portneuf Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown/Telemetry assignment. This is a 13-week travel contract supporting a 24-bed unit that provides intermediate-level care for complex cardiac, stroke, and medical patients. The facility is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center, and Chest Pain Accredited, with the capability to manage PCI and open-heart surgery patients.

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Number of Positions: 1
  • Shift: Night Shift – 3x12-hour shifts
  • Shift Hours: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (6 weekend shifts per contract)
  • Float Requirement: Possible
  • Block Scheduling: No

  • Emergent cardioversion

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU-level patients
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to emergencies
  • Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required)
  • Administer blood products and medications safely
  • Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy
  • Maintain and manage central and peripheral lines
  • Utilize Rapid Response and Code Teams when appropriate
  • Adhere to isolation precautions and hospital protocols
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams

Requirements & Qualifications

  • License: Active RN license (compact or Idaho)
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year PCU or equivalent experience
  • Patient Ratio Experience: 1:4
  • Charting System: Epic (required)
  • Travel Experience: Not required

Certifications

  • Required/Preferred:
    • BLS
    • ACLS
    • NIHSS

Skills (Preferred)

  • IV therapy / Phlebotomy
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Blood product administration
  • Non-invasive airway management

  • 100-Mile Radius Rule:
    Travelers must live at least 100 miles from the facility. Local candidates within 100 miles are not eligible.
