Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel/contract assignment in an acute care setting.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting and in a similar area to the pending assignment.
- Higher years of experience defaulted to 2 years based on clinical practice requirement.
- No explicit prior travel experience required.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or American Red Cross; RQI acceptable. Must be current at start.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for most clinical areas except CVOR, OR, Pediatric OR, Ambulatory Care, and Behavioral Health. Must be current at start.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, ERPediatric OR; preferred but not required for PACU. Must be current at start.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, OB/GYN, and NICU. Must be current at start.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred but not required for ER.
- Tech Cert Verification - National: Required for CVOR and NBSTSA certifications.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required annually.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for all nursing positions except OR; exceptions for legacy candidates with less than 6-month gap between contracts.
- State License Verification: Primary source verification within 30 days of start; license must be current.
- NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start.
- NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred for multiple units; must be current.
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for all bedside RNs except OR; completed onsite during orientation.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
- Fit Mask: N95 fit test within 12 months, updated annually.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required every 10 years.
- Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: 2-step PPD or equivalent within 12 months, updated annually.
- TB Questionnaire: Required annually if history of positive TB.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative/equivocal.
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination required.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative/equivocal.
- Drug Testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually; instant drug screens not accepted.
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31) or approved medical/religious exemption.
Background and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start; must be updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months and updated annually; must be completed under nursing-specific code. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Education verification required for all candidates.
- References: 2 references from employment within 1 year, from a manager or supervisor.
Onboarding and Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome and cannot be skipped.
- Pass/Fail EKG and medication testing completed onsite during orientation.
- Unit-specific competency exams required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Skills checklist required annually.
Additional Notes
- Candidates with gaps longer than 40 days between assignments may need to update physical exam, chest x-ray, and eye exam.
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted.
- Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Legacy candidates with less than 6-month gap between contracts may have some certification/testing exemptions.
