CVOR RN / CST – Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Facility Overview ORs: 2 CVORs Pre-Op Bays: 20 PACU Bays: 14 Charting: EPIC Equipment: Omnicell, Alaris Parking: Free Scrubs: Provided Experience Requirements RN: Minimum 2 years CVOR experience (Level I or II Trauma) CST: Minimum 2 years CVOR experience (Level I or II Trauma) First-time travelers accepted Traveler must live >100 miles from facility Former permanent staff must wait 1 year to return as traveler Cases / Patient Types CABG, TAVR, valve replacements Thoracic (robotic lobectomy, hernia repair) Generator exchanges, lead extractions Fem-pop bypass, open vascular, AAA, carotids Heart transplants May float to Main OR Staffing & Unit Support OR Ratio: 1:1 2-tech model per case (both scrubbed & draping) Full support team: RN First Assist, Surg Techs, Anesthesia, Nurse Clinician, CRN, Service Line Leads, HUC, Scheduler Certifications & Education RN: BLS, ACLS | SD RN License CST: BLS, accredited program required | CST preferred Orientation RN: 5 days (8 hrs/day) CST: 5 days (8 hrs/day) Schedule & Call 8 or 10-hour shifts (set during interview) On-call required: 1 overnight/week (7p–7a) Every 3rd weekend (Fri 1500–Mon 0700) 15-minute response time Sleep room available (Pre-Op/PACU) Floating RN & CST may float to Main OR and Central Sterile Processing Holidays & Time Off Potential to work all holidays Time off requires manager approval
