Shift: 7P–7A
Unit: Step-Down / Progressive Care

Unit Overview

Beds: 20
Staffing: ~40 total staff
Patient Ratios: 1:4 (Charge nurse typically free of patients; ratios estimated, not guaranteed)

Shift Staffing

Days: 1 Charge RN, 5 RNs, 3 Techs
Nights: 1 Charge RN, 5 RNs, 2 Techs

Patient Population

High-acuity multi-trauma patients
Stable vented and trached patients
Step-down / PCU level care in a Level 1 Trauma Center

Chest Tubes
EMR: Meditech

Required Skills & Certifications

Must Have (Required):

BLS
Experience with:
- Chest tubes
- Trauma patients
- Tracheostomies
- Suctioning

Preferred:

ACLS

Chest tube placement
Bedside bronchoscopy
