Description

TNAA/TotalMed Interview/Offer

Unit

  • 6P Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Manager interviews required

Certifications Required

  • BLS
  • PALS

Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years of high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience
  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • EPIC experience required

Clinical Skills & Equipment Experience

  • Arctic Sun
  • EVDs
  • Camino device (ICP and temperature monitoring)
  • Belmont Rapid Infuser
  • Vasoactive drip titration
  • Invasive line management (ART lines, CVP)
  • Aseptic and sterile technique
  • Basic dressing changes
  • Ventilator and tracheostomy management
  • HFOV management
  • Oral and nasal suctioning
  • G-tube and J-tube management
  • Feeding tubes
  • Chest tubes
  • Epidurals and PCAs
  • Sedation and analgesic drip management
  • Foley catheter insertion and management
  • Alaris and Medfusion pumps
  • Assisting with bedside procedures
  • Discharge skills
  • CRRT experience

Floating Requirements

  • Must be competent to float to Pediatric CVICU (discussed during interview)
  • May float as needed to:
    • Pediatric CVICU
    • NICU
    • Neonatal PCU
    • General Pediatrics

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

  • Based on acuity:
    • 1:1
    • 2:1
    • 1:2

Weekend Rotation

  • Required to work 8 weekend shifts every 6 weeks, including:
    • 2 Fridays
    • 2 Saturdays
    • 2 Sundays
    • 2 Mondays
  • Shifts may be grouped together or worked separately, as long as all 8 occur within the 6-week schedule

Call Requirement

  • No call required for travelers
  • If PICU does not need the traveler, they may be floated to:
    • Pediatric CVICU
    • Pediatric Progressive Care
    • NICU
    • General Pediatrics units within LCH
