Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced General Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team at facility. In this critical role, you will provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced operating room environment, ensuring patient safety, coordinating perioperative care, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This position requires a commitment to excellence in trauma and surgical nursing, with a focus on Level 1 trauma cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the operating room, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative handoff.
• Assist in surgical procedures, ensuring sterile technique and adherence to safety protocols.
• Monitor patient vital signs, administer medications, and respond to emergencies during surgery.
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other OR staff to facilitate efficient workflow and patient care.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, including surgical records and quality monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills in managing OR schedules, equipment, and resources.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Active New Jersey (NJ) RN license required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3+ years of professional OR nursing experience.
• Level 1 trauma experience required.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required.
• Excellent attention to detail for ensuring patient safety and quality monitoring.
• Strong organizational skills for coordinating care across the OR.
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment and make quick, critical decisions.
• Commitment to teamwork, patient advocacy, and continuous professional development.

Work Schedule and Additional Details

• Shift: 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM (11a-11p).
• Holiday Requirements: 1 summer holiday and 1 fall/winter holiday. If off on the holiday, must work the day before or the day after. Must also work one evening shift and one day shift. Additionally, must work a winter hallmark and spring hallmark event.
