Registered Nurse (RN) – Adolescent Psychiatric Unit | Night Shift | Contract
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week night-shift contract assignment in an Adolescent Psychiatric setting. This role is ideal for an RN who thrives in a behavioral health environment, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and works well within a multidisciplinary care team.
Position Details:

- Assignment Length: 13 weeks

- Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3×12-hour shifts)

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect nursing care using the nursing process
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for adolescent psychiatric patients
- Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and clinical protocols
- Delegate and supervise nursing interventions as appropriate
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff
- Provide education and support to patients and their families
- Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health specialists, and interdisciplinary team members
- Respond effectively in high-stress or crisis situations
Required Qualifications:
- Active Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license with no disciplinary actions
- Graduate of an approved nursing program
- Minimum of 1–3 years of nursing experience; experience with children and adolescents preferred
- Strong critical-thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Preferred/Additional Training:
- Basic Dysrhythmia (preferred or must be obtained prior to completion of orientation)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training (preferred or must be obtained prior to completion of orientation)
Additional Information:
- Candidates with license or background issues will not be considered
- Up to 16 hours of orientation may be unpaid
- Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week assignment
- Travelers must reside more than 50 miles from the work location
