Registered Nurse (RN) – Adolescent Psychiatric Unit | Night Shift | Contract

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week night-shift contract assignment in an Adolescent Psychiatric setting. This role is ideal for an RN who thrives in a behavioral health environment, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and works well within a multidisciplinary care team.

Position Details:

  • Job Type: Contract
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3×12-hour shifts)
  • Position Urgency: Normal

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and indirect nursing care using the nursing process
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for adolescent psychiatric patients
  • Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and clinical protocols
  • Delegate and supervise nursing interventions as appropriate
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families
  • Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health specialists, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Respond effectively in high-stress or crisis situations

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license with no disciplinary actions
  • Graduate of an approved nursing program
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of nursing experience; experience with children and adolescents preferred
  • Strong critical-thinking, communication, and teamwork skills

Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Preferred/Additional Training:

  • Basic Dysrhythmia (preferred or must be obtained prior to completion of orientation)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training (preferred or must be obtained prior to completion of orientation)

Additional Information:

  • Candidates with license or background issues will not be considered
  • Up to 16 hours of orientation may be unpaid
  • Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week assignment
  • Travelers must reside more than 50 miles from the work location

This opportunity is well suited for a dedicated psychiatric RN seeking a structured night-shift contract focused on adolescent behavioral health care.
