Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a fast-paced, high-acuity Med/Surg unit at Akron Campus. This unit serves a diverse adult and adolescent population and requires a strong, adaptable nurse comfortable managing frequent patient turnover and floating as needed.

Unit Overview

• 36-bed Medical/Surgical unit
• Patient population: Adolescents (17+) through geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5–6
• High-acuity, fast-moving environment with varied patient assignments

Primary specialties include:

• General & colorectal surgery
• Abdominal surgeries
• Mastectomy, thyroidectomy
• Urology, Women’s Health, GYN, Uro-GYN, GYN Oncology
• Plastics, ENT, Trauma
• Cardiothoracic, Orthopedic, Spine/Neuro overflow
• OB-related medical admissions (IUFD, preeclampsia, hyperemesis, substance withdrawal, diabetic pregnancies)

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Manage multiple patient assignments in a dynamic environment
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes appropriately
• Accurately document care using Epic EMR
• Float to other units as required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Compact license accepted)
• 2+ years of recent Medical/Surgical experience (required)
• Epic EMR experience within the last 12 months (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• Ability to float as needed
• Must wear solid black scrubs

Scheduling & RTO Policy

• RTO must be submitted at time of submission
• Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Block scheduling requests are NOT accepted
• Candidates requesting block schedules or exceeding RTO limits will be automatically rejected
