RN Float Pool – Clinical Support Unit
Facilities: Boise, Meridian, Nampa (all ~20 minutes apart)
Units Floated: ER, ICU, MedSurg, Tele, L&D/PP, NICU
Float only within specialty; never to lower acuity
May float as 1:1 sitter in any area
ER: All 3 sites (Meridian busiest; Boise has Peds Trauma)
ICU: 2 (Boise), 1 (Meridian), 1 (Nampa – lower acuity)
MedSurg: 6 units total | Tele: 4 units total
L&D/PP: Boise (L&D, Mother Baby), Meridian (L&D, PP), Nampa (LDRP)
NICU: All 3 sites (travelers usually feeder/grower patients)
Ratios
ER 1:4 | ICU 1:1–2 | MedSurg 1:5 | Tele 1:4 | Peds 1:3 | NICU 1:4
Requirements
Certs: BLS (all); ACLS for ER, ICU, Tele
Experience: 2 years in specialty + prior travel experience
L&D travelers: Antepartum & Mother Baby experience strongly preferred
Drips: Required in ICU, ER, Tele, MedSurg, PICU (e.g., insulin on MedSurg)
Monitoring: ICU/ER/Tele/PICU must read & interpret tele
Support & Staffing
Charge nurse on all units
Float pool leadership: 7 assistant managers (1 on call 24/7), educator & admin; daily rounding
CNAs/PCTs: Yes (approx. 1:8–10, varies)
Scheduling & Logistics
Shifts: 7a–7p or 7p–7a | No self-scheduling (block scheduling not guaranteed)
Weekends/Holidays: As needed
Call: None
Assignment: App notifies unit/facility 1 hour before shift; mid-shift floats possible
Scrubs: Any clean, professional color
Orientation: Meet & greet day 1 + 3 inpatient orientation shifts
Radius Rule: 50 miles — permanent address required at submission to verify eligibility.
