Description

Patient Types:

o Respiratory services, including patients on nebs, MDI inhalers, and chest PT – Acute cases: RSV, Entero-Rhino viruses that usually require high flow oxygen and suctioning, Flu, intubated patients in ICU for medical or post-surgical reasons; Chronic cases: Asthma, SMA

● Patient Ratios:

o 1:1

● Required Certifications:

o RRT, NRP, BLS, PALS, RRT-NPS (preferred)

● Skills required

o Registered respiratory care practitioner

o Experience with peds

o Invasive and non-invasive ventilation experience, Servo ventilator, inhaled nitric oxide (iNO), airway clearance techniques, aerosol delivery, High flow devices

● Support on the Unit:

o Charge therapist often takes a patient assignment

● Charting System:

o EPIC

o Pyxis

o Alaris

● Floating: If yes, where?

o NICU, PICU, General care peds floors, Peds ER (in rotation)
