Description
General Information
• Beds: 4
• Average # of cases/day: 7-13
• Minimal experience:
• RN - 1.5 years (per system requirement)
• Will you accept a first-time traveler?
• RN - Yes, only with 2+ years of experience
• Travelers must live 100 miles away from any facility
• Permanent staff must wait 1 full year to return as a traveler
• Case Types:
• Ortho, Podiatry, Neurosurgical, Pain Management, ENT
• Total joints, ORIF, Microsurgery, Laminectomy, Fusion, Discectomy, ACDF, Perc TAL for Club foot, Pain injections, ENT
• Required Certifications:
• RN: BLS , ACLS, PALS
• Education Requirements:
• RN: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
• Skills required:
• RN: Circulation experience in Ortho/Neuro cases; ENT case experience
• Support on the Unit:
• Phlebotomy? Yes
• IV/VAT Team? No
• Resource Nurse: Yes
• RT: No
• Hospitalist: No
• Anesthesia/CRNA team
• Charting System:
• Epic - please let CRT know if traveler does not have EPIC experience so they can ask approval
• Floating: If yes, where?
• RN: Potential to float to Rapid City hospital OR, if needed
• Orientation: (facility and unit)
• RN: 1st day computer training; 2-3 days of training with a preceptor
• Scheduling:
• Weekend rotation: N/A
• Call required: Call is usually twice per week - discussed further during manager interview
• Holiday Expectations: 2/4 major holidays (NY, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, July 4th)
