Job Summary

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) supports surgical teams by ensuring a safe, sterile, and efficient operating room environment. This role requires collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers to deliver high-quality patient care. The CST will be responsible for preparing surgical instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and assisting throughout surgical procedures in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

Experience

Minimum 1 year of recent CST experience (required)

First-time travelers are welcome

Licensure & Certifications

Active Iowa (IA) State License – Required

BLS (AHA) – Required

ACLS (AHA) – Required

Must apply for Illinois (IL) license at time of offer (required)

Travel Eligibility

Candidate must have a taxable address more than 50 miles from the facility

Exception: For assignments in Madison, local candidates may be accepted with a 10% rate reduction

Primary State License: Iowa (IA)

Compact License: Accepted

Additional Requirement: Illinois (IL) license application required upon offer

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields and instruments

Assist surgeons during operative procedures as required

Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards

Anticipate surgical team needs and respond promptly during procedures

Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital protocols
