Emergency Room RN – Illinois

Community Hospital | 24-Bed Emergency Department

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join a fast-paced, patient-centered community hospital Emergency Department in Illinois. This department is STEMI and Stroke ready, serving a diverse population from neonates to geriatrics.

🔹 Position Highlights

• 24-bed Emergency Department
• 60–80 patients daily
• 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratios (acuity based)
• 12-hour shifts with rotating start times
• First-time travelers welcome
• Strong physician and support staff presence

🔹 Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (required at submission)
• 3+ years of recent ER experience
• Required Certifications:
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS
  • PALS or ENPC
  • TNCC or TNS
  • NIHSS

🔹 Clinical Experience

• Moderate sedation
• Lumbar punctures
• All critical care drips
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Behavioral health patient management
• High-acuity emergency presentations including MI, MVA, respiratory illness, and stroke

🔹 Work Environment

• No separate fast track or holding areas
• Behavioral health safe rooms within ED
• 24/7 on-site security
• ED Techs assist with EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, and patient transport
• Respiratory Therapy available as needed
• Imaging adjacent to the ED

🔹 Scheduling & Floating

• Rotating shifts (days/evenings/nights)
• Every other weekend or per unit needs
• Holiday rotation with core staff
• Floating possible to MS/Tele/ICU (primarily helping hands)
