Description

UNIT:  PCU
Minimum Experience REQUIRED: 2 years RN experience, 1 full year of stepdown experience, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience.
Required Certs to be attached upon submittal: Must have current active compact license. AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS.

REQUIRED- Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (TRAVELERS REQUIRED TO PASS TELE TESTS), Initiate/titrate drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, Insulin, etc.). Post surgical assessment/care. NIHSS/Neuro assessments/dysphagia screen.

PREFFERED- Stable home vents, PleurX drain/pericardial drains, lumber drains, VP shunts, Narcan drips. Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills!

Stepdown - Days - Deaconess Gateway **Clinical Interview** NO LOCAL CANIDATES (40 MILE RADIUS RULE) Contract Length: 13 weeks Start: 2/9 or 2/23 - Bi-weekly orientation Guaranteed hours: 36 (will accept 48s upon request) Primary location: Gateway Shift Requirement: 12hr Days 6:30-7 Float Requirement: First to float within skillset. Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus (8 miles apart) & potential to float to Deaconess Henderson (KY – 11 miles). 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible. On Call/Call Back Requirement: N/A Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six week schedule. Every other holiday. Required Certs to be attached upon submittal: Must have current active compact license. AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS. Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class) Patient Population: Cardiac (post cath stents/interventions, pacers), CIWA/BH, Sepsis, DKA, CVA, CPAP, feeding tubes, crani POD 2, GI bleeds, hypothermic/bear hugger. Skillset: REQUIRED- Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (TRAVELERS REQUIRED TO PASS TELE TESTS), Initiate/titrate drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, Insulin, etc.). Post surgical assessment/care. NIHSS/Neuro assessments/dysphagia screen. PREFFERED- Stable home vents, PleurX drain/pericardial drains, lumber drains, VP shunts, Narcan drips. Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills! Hard worker, resilient and manages change well, social candidates. Unit Information: 16 beds; Ratio: Days 1:3-4; NOCs 1:3-4 (1:5 for M/S). CN takes 1:2 patient assignment. Unit Strengths: Fantastic CNA support, very helpful charge nurses, great teamwork. Scrub Colors: Navy blue scrubs - No competing health systems or agency logos * 3 call-ins can result in termination * *** Teaching hospital, may require precepting of students & new-hires *** Covid-19 Vaccine Not Required -- Subject to change
