Position Overview:

We are seeking a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for a Stroke / Heart Failure Unit on the night shift. This 42-bed unit specializes in caring for patients with both neurological and cardiac conditions, including congestive heart failure and acute stroke. You will be part of a highly skilled team of nurses working in a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex neuro-cardiac conditions with precision, compassion, and a focus on best practice standards of care.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in telemetry and stroke care, and have the flexibility to float between units and hospitals as needed. The role involves working closely with cardiologists and neurologists to provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care: Provide high-quality nursing care for patients with neuro-cardiac conditions such as stroke and heart failure.
• Collaboration: Work alongside cardiologists and neurologists to manage complex conditions and deliver the best outcomes for patients.
• Telemetry Monitoring: Monitor patients on telemetry, ensuring accurate readings and timely interventions when necessary.
• Patient Advocacy: Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout their stay.
• Clinical Expertise: Use evidence-based practices to manage and treat patients with neurological and cardiac conditions.
• Floating: Be willing to float to other units and hospitals within the healthcare system as needed.
• Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Available to work every other weekend and holidays as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Required: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications:

• Required:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Licensure:

• Required:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Alabama or Compact State (No temporary licenses accepted)
  • NURSYS License Verification

Experience:

• Required:
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a specialty area (telemetry, stroke, or heart failure care).
  • Will consider candidates with 18 months of experience, working under the highest level of professional licensure.
