Local Rate:
Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility will have rates reduced by $8/hour
Facility & Unit Details
Trauma Level: IV
STEMI / Stroke: Not a STEMI or Stroke Center (patients are transferred out)
ER Size: 14 beds, 2 trauma bays
Fast Track: Yes – 3 designated rooms
Triage:
Separate triage area with 2 rooms
Travelers may triage after orientation and policy review
Holding Areas:
Patients typically held in ER
ACU rooms used during overflow
Psych/Seclusion Rooms:
Yes (any room can be converted as needed)
Security:
No 24/7 in-house security
Maintenance acts as security
Local PD, internal code backup, and 911 utilized
Patient Volume & Ratios
Average ER Volume: 40–60 patients/day
Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
Days: 1:3–1:4
Nights: Higher ratios after 11 PM
3 AM–7 AM: Only 2 RNs on staff
Common Patient Types:
Trauma, MVAs, hunting injuries, farm injuries, STEMI, stroke (stabilize & transfer)
Experience Requirements
Minimum: 2 years ER experience
First-time travelers: Accepted
Travel duos: Accepted
Staffing & Support
Drips: Variable
Providers: ED physician and mid-levels; MD in-house 24/7
Charge Nurse: Takes an assignment
Support Staff:
24/7 HUC coverage
CNAs, medics, and LPNs float for task-based support
Respiratory Therapy:
24/7 in-house
Performs ABGs, breathing treatments, and assists with EKGs if needed
Telemetry:
No monitor techs
Central monitoring station; RNs read their own strips
Imaging:
X-ray: In-house, down the hall, 24/7
CT: Adjacent to ER, 24/7
Lab Draws: 24/7 phlebotomy
Scheduling
Shifts: 7-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts
12-hour options: Variable start times
Scheduling Method:
Manager creates schedule
Variable start times required
Will try to avoid 1-on / 1-off patterns
Weekends: Every other Saturday & Sunday
Holidays:
Winter: Must work at least 2 of 3
Otherwise, typically every other holiday
Call/Standby:
Voluntary low census (unpaid)
Floating:
Inpatient units for helping hands only
Orientation & Dress Code
Orientation:
Computer-based training
2 days floor orientation
1 day focused on policies and department specifics
Scrubs: Any solid color; clean and professional
Additional Notes
Must disclose if clinician has ever worked for Marshfield
If previously employed, must be separated for at least 6 months prior to submission
All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
