• Education: Trade or Technical School certificate or diploma.
• Certification: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• Experience: At least 1 year preferred.

Job Title:

Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech)

Location Requirement:

• Local travelers within 50 miles of the facility may receive a lower rate.

Job Summary:

• Works under direct supervision of a surgeon to facilitate safe, effective surgical procedures.
• Ensures a safe operating room environment and that equipment functions properly.
• Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment needed during surgery.
• Anticipates surgeon’s needs and maintains sterile technique.
• Does not function as a circulating nurse, first assistant, administer medications, or complete patient records.
• May train new employees and students in the Surgical Technologist role.

Key Duties:

• Check supplies and equipment before surgery.
• Scrub, gown, and glove self, surgeon, and assistants.
• Perform counts with circulator prior to operation and before incision closure.
• Assist in draping the sterile field.
• Pass instruments to the surgeon during procedures.
• Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique.
• Assist with terminal cleaning of the room.
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Prepare the surgical suite for the next patient.
• Train and mentor new employees and students.
